Its no surprise I am obsessed with inversions. From the very beginning of my yoga practice I’ve been in love with being upside down. Why you may ask? My answer is always….. WHY NOT?! Yes it may be challenging and hard but hey who doesn’t like a good challenge.
Inversions have so many great benefits for the mind and the body. Below are just a few of my favorite reasons to invert.
- They keep you healthy- Inversions help to stimulate lymphatic cleansing and drainage which clears toxins from the tissues and plays a vital role in improving the efficiency and effectiveness of the immune system.
- Glowing Skin- Reversing gravity flushes fresh nutrients and oxygen to the face, stimulates the facial capillaries and hair follicles of the scalp, and helps remove visual signs of toxicity (including acne), giving your skin a natural “face lift” and healthy glow.
- Energy Booster- Inversions get blood moving to the brain which results in physical invigoration and mental boost.
- And my all time favorite- Perspective changer. Change the way you see and look at things by literally flipping your perspective.
While I started my yoga journey with inversions before learning the basics, this approach isn’t for everyone. Inversion require core and shoulder/arm strength. As with most yoga asana’s(poses) there are always modifications. If you have never inverted please do so under the supervision of a yoga instructor.
In this video I demo how to get into tripod headstand. Please use a wall if needed. As with most things there are many different ways to get to the end point.
